The principal accident reconstruction specialists and vehicle mechanical expert at OnPoint Forensics are retired investigators from the California Highway Patrol – Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Combined, they have over 75 years of experience in collision investigation and law enforcement. OnPoint Forensics utilizes the latest in technologies and methodologies in the areas of accident reconstruction, scene mapping, and Event Data Recorder analysis.

Mr. Michael Seruga has 28 years of investigative experience with the California Highway Patrol, including 21 years as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Mr. Seruga forensically analyzes and reconstructs vehicular collisions and other high profile incidents.  

 

He has extensive experience in active, live-scene response and documentation of physical evidence, including roadway, environmental, vehicular, and human aspects, in hundreds of major transportation and other high-profile accidents. He has experience with safety system component failures and expertise in advanced technology, such as computer simulation, 3d laser scanning, and access and interpretation of automotive Event Data Recorders (EDR) and Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR).

 

Mr. Seruga is accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and has provided expert testimony in the areas of accident reconstruction in both criminal and civil proceedings throughout California. Mr. Seruga has consulted on Officer Involved Shooting investigations and other various police policy and procedural related cases. During his law enforcement career, Mr. Seruga attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and Chaffey College for undergraduate studies in Physics and Engineering.

Paul Gray has spent over 26 years in public service. He has over 18 years of experience with the California Highway Patrol, including 11 years as a full-time member of the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Prior to his time with the CHP, he was a paramedic and EMS Instructor in Contra Costa County, California.


Mr. Gray has extensive experience in collision documentation, analysis and reconstruction including the access and interpretation of data from Event Data Recorders (EDR). He has responded to hundreds of major and high-profile transportation accidents, utilizing the latest in technology to document and analyze vehicle damage, physical evidence, and the scene environment. Mr. Gray has testified as an expert in accident reconstruction in numerous California counties and U.S District Court, Central District of California, Eastern Division.


Mr. Gray is accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and is an FAA licensed remote pilot for small unmanned aircraft systems. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Marist College in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree from California Baptist University in Criminal Justice Leadership and Administration.

Paul Wester has over 27 years of experience as a law enforcement officer and investigator with the California Highway Patrol, including 17 years as a part-time and/or full-time member of the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). 

 

Mr. Wester has extensive experience in reviewing, editing, composing investigations, periodicals, and other publications, and reconstruction including the access and interpretation of data from Event Data Recorders (EDR).  He has responded to over one thousand major and high-profile transportation collisions, utilizing the latest in technology to document and analyze vehicle damage, physical evidence, and the scene environment.  He utilizes strong troubleshooting skills to identify the cause and sequence of events in complex traffic collisions, shootings, and other associated investigations.

 

Mr. Wester has testified as an expert in accident reconstruction in numerous southern California county courts. Mr. Wester holds an Associate of Arts degree from Fullerton College.
